My Bio

About me

I am a qualified HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist, working therapeutically with adults and young people over the age of 16. My main employment is with the NHS, and I also offer a therapy service on a private basis. I have full professional insurance and have an active enhanced level Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

I draw upon a range of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and schema therapy, but I primarily work within a psychodynamic and attachment focussed framework. I have specific interests in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). This therapeutic approach aims to rapidly reduce emotional distress and promote wellbeing by helping clients to fully experience their emotions and address patterns which have become self-defeating.

The therapeutic relationship is of great importance and I hope to offer a safe environment for you to explore issues which may relate to your past, present or future. I aim to work collaboratively to support you to gain a full understanding of your difficulties and achieve your therapeutic goals. Relationships can be challenging to navigate and commonly I find myself working with people whose problems stem from their relationships. I am an active therapist which means I will encourage you to make healthy changes whilst holding the awareness that change is ultimately within your control.

Throughout my NHS career, I have worked within community services, inpatient settings, forensic environments, specialist personality disorder services and learning disability services. I have a range of experience which includes working with people experiencing; relationship difficulties, low mood, trauma related difficulties, anxiety, personality based difficulties and problems with managing emotions.
