My Bio

About me

I'm Laura, and I'm here to help guide you on your journey to emotional wellbeing. As a Clinical Psychologist accredited by the HCPC, I specialise in helping adults and young people (16 and above) discover their path to a healthier, happier life. While I'm proud to be part of the NHS team, I also offer private therapy sessions, fully insured and backed by a background check for your peace of mind.

My approach to therapy is all about understanding and responding to your unique needs. I believe in creating a safe space where you can explore your emotions and experiences at a manageable pace. Together, we'll find the right balance between encouraging change and respecting your individual process. I believe the heart of effective therapy is a trusting, supportive relationship. My goal is to offer you a comfortable environment where you can openly discuss your past, present, or future concerns. Whether you're facing relationship issues, mood fluctuations, anxiety, or other emotional challenges, I'm here to support you in understanding and overcoming these difficulties.

I use a blend of different methods, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and schema therapy, to offer you the best support possible. One of my key interests is in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), a technique designed to quickly ease emotional distress and help you break free from self-defeating patterns. I'm also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an effective approach for those who are grappling with traumatic memories and their impact. In our initial sessions, we'll work together to figure out the most effective approach for your specific challenges and goals.

With my diverse experience across various NHS settings, including community and inpatient services, I bring a wealth of knowledge in addressing a wide range of issues. My expertise spans relationship difficulties, trauma, low self-esteem, personality difficulties and more. In our sessions, I'll be right there with you, actively engaging and encouraging positive changes, while always keeping in mind that the power for change lies in your hands.
